Opportunity is knocking a second time for those who failed to purchase a “Pictorial History of Clark County” when it was offered by the Bluegrass Heritage Museum in late 2010.

The last of the initial offering of 1,000 books was sold by early 2011, Sandy Stults, director of the Bluegrass Heritage Museum, said today.

Acclaim Press of Morley, Mo., is interested in doing a second printing of the book, Stults said, but it depends on enough cash-in-advance orders for the book.

The 8 1/2x11- inch hardbound book contains 256 pages and more than 1,000 pictures about life in Clark County from the 1800s to the present.

Many of the pictures had never before been published until they were included in the book, Stults said.

They cover business, agriculture, downtown Winchester, local interests, transportation, old homes, government, military, schools, athletics, organizations, churches and family and friends.

The book has a full-color lithograph cover with a matching dust jacket.

Acclaim Press will do a second printing of 300 books provided the museum can sell at least 50 copies in advance, she said. The book will sell for $52.94, including tax,. Those who pay for them in advance will be charged $47.64. Once the museum submits an order to Acclaim, it will be about two months before the books are available, Stults said. The books will be mailed to those requesting it at an additional cost of $6 for shipping.

Museum personnel currently are contacting persons whose names were placed on an earlier waiting list, Stults said, to confirm their continued interest and to request prepayment.

Pictorial directories will not be reserved unless paid for in advance, Stults said,.
