
The Civil War Symposium
April 8 & 9th, 2011
The Saturday morning session opened at the Winchester Opera House, just down the street from the Bluegrass Heritage Museum.

Speaking first was Chris Kolakowski, author of The Civil War at Perryville Battling for the Bluegrass. Kolakowski has worked for the National Park Service, The Civil War Preservation Trust, and Kentucky State Parks. He is currently Director of the General George Patton Museum at Fort Knox.
After a short break Bob Bell took center stage talking about African Americans in the Civil War.
Mr. Bell has been involved in interpreting blacks in the Civil War as a living historian and charter member of the 12th United States Colored Heavy Artillery, Reactivated.
Kent Masterson Brown is seen here waiting in the wings. He spoke both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. He is a nationally recognized Civil War Authority.
Lunch, and a panel discussion and it was back to the Musem for a look at the Civil War exhibit. At left Kent Masterson Brown leads another lively discussion as Symposium participants make their way back to the museum.
The museum had a selection of the speakers books for sale and also a final punch and cookie reception for the participants.
